More information

By combining exercises in body awareness, flow, power and compassion with analytic empirical thinking, Paul has developed rapid and effective ways of bringing elements of martial arts such as centering, focusing, fighting spirit, and resilience into areas such as music, sports, trauma recovery, and peacemaking.

People usually think that talking about their challenges is necessary for finding solutions. However, if they tell the story before they learn effective methods of self-regulation, they replay (often painful) past experiences in their body, which amounts to practicing being a victim. By identifying emotions as actions people do in the body (rather than being words and thoughts), Paul helps people examine and test these actions as strategies for staying safe.

By creating better means of verbal and physical self-protection, people can in the present actually fight and win against what defeated them in the past. They can overcome learned powerlessness and replace old patterns with new behaviors that are more useful for their purposes.
